If you're a business owner in Texas with a multi-line telephone system that provides outbound dialing, you may already be aware that Kari's Law is now in effect, as of September 1st.
Kari's Law requires businesses to provide direct access to 9-1-1 service without the user having to first dial an initial number, digit, prefix or other access number or code before dialing 9-1-1.
On March 1, 2016 the Commission on State Emergency Communications adopted Rule 251.16 (Direct Access to 9-1-1 Service) to implement Kari’s Law. Business can apply to temporarily waive this requirement.
More information and background on Kari’s Law can be found here and here. If you have questions about your business phone system and its compliance, always feel free to reach out to The Fulcrum Group.
