Prezi – the top online presentation tool

May 4th, 2011

Prezi is a presentation program that has been receiving a lot of recognition lately for its alternative approach to presentations. It has a great deal of fans due to its flexibility. What else makes it so fantastic? Read on!

Flash-based

Prezi is flash-based, which makes it more versatile in the kind of presentations you can create. Presentations needn’t be quite so linear. They are created more like a visual map with words, images, links and whatever else you’d like to incorporate.

You are able to zoom in and out of that map to view different parts of the presentation, and can move between areas. This gets rid of the need to have identical slides throughout the presentation. It also prevents you from having to revisit a previous slide if you must reference it again.

Intuitive

Although Prezi’s interface takes some adjusting, it is extremely intuitive once you’ve figured it out. Many people are typically non-linear thinkers, which makes standard slide-by-slide presentations seem awkward. Prezi gets rid of that problem.

If you are having any trouble getting used to the user interface, simply take a look at one of the many tutorials on Prezi’s website.

Although Prezi is web-based, you may download your presentation after it has been created so that you do not need an Internet connection in order to present. Prezi is available in a free version, but can also be purchased for extra storage and improved privacy.

Although Prezi may not be for everyone, it is a great alternative for those who are looking to create a different kind of presentation.
