IT Vendor Management

Fulcrum Group Vendor Management IT Vendor Management is the process of monitoring and managing interactions, support access, and contracts with external IT vendors. When an IT support vendor such as The Fulcrum Group becomes the outsourced IT provider, part of its responsibility is to assist in the management of the client’s 3rd party IT vendors. Typical IT Vendors include:
  • Hardware
  • Software
  • Internet & Telecom/Phone System
  • Cloud Applications & Services
  • Copiers/Printers
  • And many others!
Typical IT Vendor Management Scenarios:
  • Warranty Claims – coordinating with vendors for hardware failure repairs
  • Vendor Liaison – coordinating and contacting vendors on clients’ behalf
  • Vendor Comparison – assisting the client in getting competitive bids for services such as Internet providers or copier vendors
  • 3rd Party Services – arranging and coordinating 3rd party vendor services such as on-site support at remote locations or software upgrades
As your IT outsourcing vendor, Fulcrum Group takes on these responsibilities, and frees up your staff to focus on doing their jobs.

IT Managers As Contract Administrators

IT Managers as Contract Administrators The responsibilities and duties of IT Managers has changed.  In the past, an IT Manager was often a “one man band," with multiple responsibilities including desktop/server support, application support, cybersecurity, IT Planning/Budgeting, and other duties. The world has changed over the past decade.  IT Managers are now seen more as contract administrators.  They are often responsible for managing 3rd party IT contracts with vendors such IT outsourcing/Managed Services, Line of Business software applications, cloud vendors, Internet/Voice Providers, IT project vendors, and others. They may still be responsible for IT Planning/Budgeting, but the days of wearing 10-12 hats is slowly fading.  Their job now is to manage 3rd party IT vendors effectively, negotiate cost-effective contracts, and hold vendors to their contracts. Reach out to us at The Fulcrum Group if you are looking for assistance with managing 3rd party IT vendor contracts.
