New Year's Resolutions for Cybersecurity Resolutions for Cybersecurity Have you made your New Year’s Resolutions to lose weight, exercise more, and quit smoking?  Don’t forget to add a few resolutions for your organization’s cybersecurity. Below are 5 resolutions that will get you on the road to improving your organization’s cybersecurity posture and reducing your risk. Resolution #1 As a business leader, I will make cybersecurity a priority in our business through education, awareness, and focus. Start by attending our upcoming cybersecurity lunch & learn. Resolution #2 Obtain cybersecurity insurance.  If your organization doesn’t already have cybersecurity insurance, remember that data breaches are costly, they happen frequently, and that cybersecurity insurance can reduce your risk. Resolution #3 Budget for cybersecurity.  Not only does your organization need firewalls, VPNs, antivirus, and other traditional cybersecurity solutions, but you should also budget to secure the person (end user security awareness training), and consider other cybersecurity tools such as SIEMs to help secure your IT environment. Resolution #4 Plan to secure your IOT Devices.  As IOT devices continue to proliferate in your network, you MUST have a plan to segment and secure these devices to reduce the vectors for intrusion, and improve your cybersecurity posture.  Creating separate VLANs, requiring VPN connectivity for access to IOT devices, and simply documenting when and where you have IOT devices can go a long way to securing these devices. Resolution #5 Don’t sleep on backup and disaster recovery.  As cybersecurity risks continue to increase, the importance of backup and disaster recovery solutions increase as well.  Regular reviews of what is being backed up, the requirements for Recovery Time Objective (RTO) and Recovery Point Objective (RPO) can help ensure that your backup and disaster recovery solution can help you recover in the event of a compromise. Getting started on these 5 resolutions can give you a head start on cybersecurity for 2019.  Reach out to your Fulcrum Account Manager for more information on any of these topics.
Top 5 Reports from Fulcrum Group’s FREE SPOT Check Network Assessment New prospective clients can receive a FREE SPOT Check Network Assessment from The Fulcrum Group simply by submitting a request on our web site.  This network assessment provides a plethora of detailed information as well as summary reports that can help an organization understand their IT environment.  Here are the Top 5 Reports. 1. Fulcrum Group SPOT Check Network Assessment Executive Summary This is an Executive Summary prepared by Fulcrum Group consultants after reviewing all of the auto generated reports, physical site survey, and interviews. 2. Client Risk Report This report contains a summary of issues detected during the Network Assessment process, and is based on industry-wide best practices for network health, performance, and security.  A risk score is generated to help you understand the severity of your IT risk. 3. Management Plan Report The Management Plan ranks individual issues based upon their potential risk to the network while providing guidance on which issues to address by priority. Fixing issues with lower Risk Scores will not lower the Overall Risk Score, but will reduce the global Issue Score. To mitigate global risk and improve the health of the network, address issues with higher Risk Scores first. 4. Network Assessment PowerPoint This presentation summarizes your IT environment with key information such as Windows Active Directory domain stats (# users, last login date, patching levels, and top issues). 5. Full Detail Report All of the reports and detail information consolidated into a single document. If you’re already a Fulcrum Group SPOT client, your Fulcrum service team uses these reports to help plan technology roadmaps and budgets.  If you’re not a Fulcrum Group SPOT client, reach out for a free SPOT Check Network Assessment.
SPOTlight On: New IT Services Coordinator, Jennifer Gardner We'd like to introduce you this month to Fulcrum Group's new IT Services Coordinator, Jennifer Gardner! Jennifer comes to us with great customer service and organizational skills (and as a busy mom of two teenaged girls, that's hardly surprising). Her girls are 13 and 14 and play sports both in and out of school, and are also in band.  "I do enjoy getting outside and playing volleyball with them and walking my 4 dogs.  We have a very close family and we like to spend time at my mom’s on her 22 acres with the goats, pigs and chickens.  I also enjoy crime TV shows and the 1st 48 is at the top of my list.  I played soccer growing up and still enjoy getting on the field to kick the ball around IF I have any free time." Jennifer's priority at Fulcrum will include assisting the Engineering team with meeting scheduling goals. "I have been in the customer service industry - retail and home services - for 20+ years, I bring an empathetic ear for listening and an overall enjoyment in servicing clients and ensuring satisfaction.  For my new colleagues, I love to support those in need and hope in the service coordinator position I will be able to do just that and help things to flow smoothly and efficiently in regards to scheduling and dispatching. We're so glad to welcome Jennifer to our team!
