A quick primer on iOS7 tricks

November 21st, 2013

Apple launched its latest version of iOS7 for its iPad and iPhone devices. The tech press has covered the new operating system in detail. However that doesn’t mean there aren’t tricks that you can’t learn to help make your iOS7 experience better still. Luckily for us, Entrepreneur magazine recently wrote a story talking about several iOS7 tricks that will make your mobile experience even better.

Text info

Do you ever need to know when someone sent you that important text message? It's an easy task to uncover with iOS7. Simply swipe from right to left on your screen's list of text messages. When you do, you will see the exact time that the text message came in.

More than a compass

iOS7’s compass app is a pretty neat tool, especially if you have no idea whether you’re heading west or east. But were you aware that you can transform the compass into a leveling tool? Entrepreneur does. Just open your compass app and swipe to the very next screen. This will bring up a leveling tool, so you can use your iPhone or iPad to see if that shelf you're hanging is level.

Better search

Apple's Search feature is different. For starters, as Entrepreneur notes, the company now calls it "Spotlight." Secondly, to open it you just need to swipe down in the middle of your home screen. This'll bring up a search -- or "spotlight" -- box. You can search for anything from texts and e-mail messages to apps, songs and contacts.
