Smartphone Charging Pads: Analysis

February 24th, 2012

If you have a smartphone it is probably an essential part of your life. You use it to enjoy music, read, check you mail, navigate to stores, and lastly make calls! But if your battery dies you can’t use it. And, let’s be honest, finding your charger and a free outlet in your house can be annoying and no easy task in today’s tech-savvy homes or apartments.

But there is now an easier method to charge your device: a smartphone charging pad.

Charge your phone wirelessly

These flat pads permit users to charge their devices wirelessly. Giving us relief from twisted cords. Another benefit is that several devices can be charged at the same time; and not just smartphone but tablets and iPods too!

This may seem like magic but charge pads rely upon electro-magnetic induction charging. They produce a magnetic field, which charges the battery in your smartphones, tablets, and other electronic devices.

Charge pads a technology in progress

Smartphone charge pads, though, haven’t exactly captured the imaginations of shoppers. There are some reasons for this: First, today’s charge pads aren’t cheap. In some instances, they cost nearly as much as the gadgets that consumers need to charge.

Second of all, charge pads are big and bulky. They take up a lot of desk or shelf space. This limits their use; since of course, many consumers count on charge pads to eliminate the mess that comes with multiple cords. If charge pads are too large, getting rid of these cords doesn’t minimize clutter.

An improving wireless world

The good news is that technology is always improving, especially in the world of wireless products. It will not be too much time before the market is filled with companies providing new and improved charge pads. And you can bet these new pads will eliminate the price and space issues that so far have kept these devices from becoming must-have items.
